Vintage 2021

2021, the year of every danger!

It all starts with a cold but beautiful winter.

End of April, after the break-up comes the frost. The vine is burnt ! May is cold. The vine blooms in June in wet and fresh conditions. The result, linked to these difficult climatic conditions, is a fruit set of less than 20% than a normal year.

Following the frost, we discover whole lines without grapes. For me, such a magnitude of damage is unprecedented!

June and July are bathed in heavy and very frequent rains: downy mildew settles in a sustainable way. The losses will be significant and as if that were not enough, hail occurs! At the end of August, when the weather finally calmed down, I noticed the damages: a very small harvest and a large wall at Dézaley that fell, it did not resist the weather.

The harvest lasts only 4 days! the grapes that have resisted, are beautiful, they have matured, thanks to the generous sun of September.

The wines are concentrated, deep, like survivors dedicated to the memory of a year without mercy.

We have postponed the bottling of our 2020 wines which allows us to offer you some more bottles of this vintage.

We look forward to making you taste our wines and look forward to seeing you in Epesses.
